CONDEMNATION OF DR. MAHATHIR'S STATEMENT

Parti Keadilan Nasional [keADILan] regrets the statement made by Datuk
Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in Kangar on 20th September 1999 that keADILan
had accused the Deputy Home Affairs Minister, Dato' Azmi Khalid, and the
Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dato ' Aziz Samsudin, as the
people responsible for poisoning Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the
statement that keADILan is plotting the assassination of Dato' Aziz
Samsudin.

This statement smacks of a political gimmick and shows that Dr. Mahathir
is an irresponsible Prime Minister. He has used his executive position
in the government to utter statements at his whim and fancy with total
disregard for the implications of his actions.

Parti Keadilan Nasional has never made any accusations as stated by Dr.
Mahathir as we would never accuse any individuals before an exhaustive
and independent probe is done on the matter.

In the statement and Memorandum that was issued by Parti Keadilan
Nasional and the people of Malaysia, we have asked that an independent
investigation be conducted immediately to ensure that those responsible
for this heinous act can be brought to book without further delay. We
also ask that medical attention be given to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

With this we would like to remind Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to refrain from
issuing any further malicious and misleading statements to confuse the
Malaysian public on the real issues pertaining to this case, that is,
Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim was poisoned while under the custody of the
government.
