API's Background

All youths are radicals, simply for the reason that they are young and the fire still burns hot, they still have clear principles and high ideals. Youths have proven to be the catalysts of change over and over again. In Malaysia it is no different; Tun Onn Jaafar and Tunku Abdul Rahman were actively involved in the struggle for independence while they were students.

The Enlightened Youth Movement (Gerakan Pemuda Insaf API) is based on and carries on the struggle for independence started by the Enlightened Youth Corps (Angkatan Pemuda Insaf API) founded by Saudara A. Boestaman, Saudara Bakar Thareek dan Saudara A. Bakar Abdul Rahim in 1942.

API realizes that the struggle has not ended, it is an ongoing struggle and with this realization API has taken up the mantle, to continue the struggle for True Independence. It is Man's nature to desire to control other men. Now it is clear to all that in Malaysia there exists a small group of people full of greed, skillfuly manipulating and dominating the minds and hearts of the people.

It is our responsibility as youth to enlighten the masses, to make the people realize that tools of imperialism exist in Malaysia; The Internal Security Act, The Seditions Act, The Official Secrets Act, The Societies Act, The Colleges Act and The Police Act are draconian in nature and prone to abuse by certain people to subjugate the hearts and minds of the people. To continue along this path would lead to a citizenry who exist only to work, effectively slave labour, always forced to feel gratitude for the few scraps thrown to them from the tables of their leaders and those of their cronies.
